T-tops, Ls1, Manual, pop up headlights, giant rear spoiler, Ram Air scoops. I lust after a Firebird from this era and some are quite reasonably priced!

Unfortunately, a chassis from the 60s.

I always liked the exterior of the late 4th gen birds but I love the dash and seats in the Camaro. they are a great handling car stock. I enjoy my 98 Camaro SS but, its time to part with it. There are some great deals on these cars. defiantly a super performance bargin

For reasons that should be obvious I like Mustangs so I can never buy a Camaro. Even if the Firebird is the same thing I feel like I could buy one.

Why are you selling yours? Moving up to a Bumblebee?

Bigger tires mean a more comfortable ride and better handling though

I’m not disagreeing, but it’s just funny to 16s and 17s as ‘performance tires.’ My Conquest at 16 x 8.5s factory. In 1987!

I think the 1989 Conquest had 16 x 9s!

I always thought the Conquest was a cool looking car. Was it fun?

yeah I bought a 2014 SS/RS. so the 98 has to go, but for the moment I can say I own 3 Camaros. Never thought I would do that.

I really love the look of the 4th gen f-bodies but the absolute lack of engine bay space for maintenance and access is keeping me away to the point where I’ll consider a 3rd gen instead.

The no-est of no buenos. I have a friend with a LT1 Formula and every time he wants to work on that engine, he has to drop the transmission and engine to get full access...which he had to do a lot because he was cursed with the shittiest LT1 on the face of the earth. However, there’s a 383 stroker he pulled from a wrecked Camaro that’s taking its place very soon...requiring another engine drop.

Gladly. But first, it has to beat up on more ferraris on the drive home.

What’s cooler than beating a contemporary ferrari? Beating a contemporary ferrari as a pickup truck.

T-tops are “trailer park cool”. Lifted pickups are trailer trash cool so the syclone treads dangerous water, but thankfully it is way too low for that crowd. Instead the syclone gets to be “1 am on woodward” cool. And that’s the best kind. Dirty, sexy, badass speed will always be the coolest thing of all.

No, I bought an automatic car, mainly since its my work car and traffic sucks, also my 68 is a 4 speed for when I want to bang gears. It feels heavy, and I compare the visibility to our chopped top 33 ford pickup. But the ride is way better and handeing is nice.

Yes! But looks were a stronger suit than performance. I would own another in a heartbeat. But I would swap the recirculating ball steering box for a Nissan rack and pinion. Then I would swap the boat anchor engine for an LS. If I can find a clean body and nice interior, I’m buying again

Just curious, what in the world does he need to keep fixing that requires dropping the drivetrain? Rather surprisingly, the engine is the only part of my car that I haven’t pulled apart..

Numerous oil leaks around the rear main seal, valve covers, a few blown gaskets/engines, and finally one hydro-lock.

Hard to believe visibility is that poor. But I guess it keeps you alive

Yeah it does, haven't had a chance to test them out though on a nice road. Usually when I get the opportunity I hop in my 68

We had a WS6 firehawk ed. At the dealership I worked at back then. Never sold it. No one could get the banks to justify the cost. The mechanics used to take it to the track on weekends, swap tires and race it. Back on the lot Monday. Bitch to drive in the snow too. Ride the clutch and stay off the gas.
